[ letter addressed to Yoh ]
Hello!
It looks like I'm your new pen pal. I'm not entirely sure what we are supposed to write about, but I thought introductions might be a good place to begin. My name is Yun. I'm thirteen and I've been in Luceti for nearly ten months now. I mostly like reading and exploring the forest around the enclosure, though I go to the school, too, and I just started helping out at the tea shop.
That all sounds really normal for being stuck in such a strange place like this, doesn't it?
Anyway, I'm not sure what else to add, other than I hope you're doing well!
Sincerely,
Yun
[ letter addressed to Yun ] // Sorry for the super late, I forgot you can kill me as retribution
Hello, Yun.
It's nice to meet you. My name's Yoh Asakura, I'm fifteen years old (sixteen if going by this place's calendar) and I'm been in Luceti since March so I'm a bit behind you regarding time staying here. I guess that makes you my senior? Should I call you Yun-senpai like it's done in my country with senior classmates and coworkers? :D
[There's actually a laughing face drawn in the letter, yes.]
I've not stepped into the school yet, to be honest it never interested me much back at my world either, though I met a great friend there. I like to listen to music, it was hard to be here at first until I found my headphones and music collection, I always wear my headphones on even if I'm not listening to them so it felt weird. I also explore the forest often, though most of the time it's to practice with the Filial Spirits or to train. I know many people use the Battle Dome and I know of it, of course, but it doesn't feel as if it would suit me. I prefer natural things, though I'm not against technology or anything like that :D
I don't think Luceti is such a strange place to be honest. Take aside the fact that we're suddenly brought here and it could pretty well be anywhere in my world at least. Sure, we don't have any enclosures with people as test-subjects as far as we know but it could be and there are always things that aren't known. Except for the lack of vehicles and technology with some exceptions, this place could pass as a village in my world very easily.
If you would let me be curious, what kind of world is yours? How is life around there?
Looking forward for your reply,
Yoh
PD.- Sorry for the late reply! I'll try to be faster from now on.
[ letter addressed to Yoh ] Don't worry about it! They're penpal letters, they can take time. c:
I don't need any extra titles added to my name, though I have heard those used before! They're honorifics, aren't they? From Japan? I visited there once. It was very different from the world I am from, but still fun. :)
[And knowing Yoh knows what emoticons are, she replies in like! The same person she visited Japan with months and months ago also taught her those. She'd always thought them rather cute!]
I'm glad to hear you found your music here (although I'm not sure what headphones are). It's always nice to have something from home.
Have you done much with the Spirits yet? That's actually something I'm interested in, too. I've talked to them a lot since arriving, but I've only begun to learn from them very recently. They aren't so different from the Spirits I am used to, just not really as chatty!
Luceti wouldn't be out of place in my own world, too, but only if you take away the electricity and all the rest of the technology they have around. I lived in a village in the forest, so that much hasn't changed for me here, even if this one is bigger by far. The part I'm from, the Grasslands, isn't so much an organized nation as it is a land defended by the Six Clans when threatened. A lot of our cultures center around the Spirits and warriors and quite a bit of hunting. Life is typically quiet, save for when someone threatens our borders.
To our west is the Zexen Confederacy and they are very unlike us in the Grasslands. You are more likely to find nations similar to theirs elsewhere than to the Grasslands, with their great cities of stone. They are ruled by a council and their military is led by knights, the sort with armor and warhorses. They're very particular about how to act! Very 'proper', I think, is what they would call it. I think it is that way for all the other lands around us, too. It would take a much longer letter to go into how all the other nations go about things, though, as I said before, they are much more similar to Zexen than they are to the Grasslands.
My world isn't strictly a human population, either. While there are many humans, we also have people like the Lizard Clan, who are all great big talking lizard-people. There's also the Duck Clan, which is similar to the Lizard Clan, only they are duck-people. There are kobolds (those are dog-people), the Winged Horde (people with wings!), the Elves, and many, many more.
We also have runes, which seem unique to my world. They are the main source of magic in it. Runes can be attached to people and then those people may use the kind of magic attributed to the rune. There's a lot of them. A few examples are the simple elemental sorts, like water and fire. Anyone with a knack for magic can use them.
I hope that covered enough about my world, but I can write more if you have other questions! I don't mind. It's fun to talk about it.
Is your world like ours at all, Yoh? Are there different kind of people? And magic? Or is yours more reliant on technology?
Sincerely,
Yun
P.S. What is PD?
P.S.S. Don't worry about it. I can't say I've been very timely about writing this, either!
